Markus Lauff is Product Manager heading the Development Portfolio Management of the POA Shared Business Components at SAP AG. Markus is responsible for ensuring a clear and customer driven prioritization of the SBC features.

Prior to this role, Markus lead the Product Management of the PTU Business User, CTO & Framework group.

Markus joined SAP in November 2000 as a senior researcher in the area of ubiquitous computing. After a successful acquisition of a large project funded by the European Commission, in late 2000 Markus took over the project management of this European project. In 2002 SAP Research (the global research organization of SAP) established the instrument of Research Programs and Markus was nominated as the Program Manager for Device Independent Application Engineering. 2004 Markus joined the Executive Team of SAP Research. As a Director of Research Business Development, he was in charge of the corporate engagement activities of SAP Research. During that time he closely worked together with SAP steering committees and research groups in order to align SAP Research's research activities to maximize the value for SAP. Due to an organizational restructuring Markus than took over the position of  a Director of the Research Portfolio Office Markus. Here he was in charge of the innovation management and research portfolio planning for SAP Research.

For many years, Markus hold a university teaching position of the University of Darmstadt, Faculty of Computer Science. In this university main course "TK2 Web Engineering, Web Cooperation and eLearning" he teached software engineering of web-based applications.

In addition to his work at SAP, he is the General Manager of Columbus Consulting focusing on communal IT consulting.

Markus holds a doctoral degree in computer science (Dr.-Ing. - PhD in Engineering) and a Dipl.-Inform. (Master's degree in Computer Science) both from the University of Karlsruhe.
